Haddaway Hall was built by John and Anna Weyerhaueser. John was the oldest son of Weyerhaueser Lumber Co. founder, Frederick Weyerhaueser, and was president of the Weyerhaueser Company.

The mansion was designed in the Jacobethan revival style by the Cornell Brothers architects. In a biography on the Weyerhauesers it was noted that the project was primarily Anna's, and John named the home "Haddaway" as a cryptic pun for "had her way," since Anna had her way about most aspects of the homes design. The huge home has sweeping views of the Puget Sound and beautiful landscaping designed by the Olmsted Brothers. Obviously money was not an object when the house was built.

Currently the structure is a Baptist Seminary. The servant's quarters and greenhouse are in great disrepair however the main house looks well taken care of. The Seminary has built a chapel in a corner of the front landscape in a modern style, unfortunately, which mars the feel of the complex.
