It is a work commissioned though the Shreveport Regional Arts Council in 2003, by James W. Thomas and fabricated by James W. Thomas and Roger R. Hinton.
It is not known what Mr. Thomas idea was of the sculpture was to indicate or represent however, Merriam Webster’s Electronic Dictionary states: Symbiosis - 1.“the living together in more or less intimate association or close union of two dissimilar organisms. 2. the intimate living together of two dissimilar organisms in a mutually beneficial relationship....
