Holy Cross Church was built in 1896 of locally quarried limestone. The church was built by church member and quarry owner James Shannon. Shannon donated the stone and labor from his Shannon Quarry to construct the church. The church was purchased by the Batavia Park District in 1996 and converted into a community center.
