The Midway Drive-In opened in 1940 along what was then U.S. Route 99 (now Pacific Highway) as the "Northwest Motor Movie". The theater was the only paved drive-in in the south King County area and it transitioned easily into a part time swap meet in the 1980's. In the mid 90's the theater closed and it became a full time swap meet. The swap meet closed in 2004 and in 2005 the drive-in was demolished to make way for a new Lowe's Home Improvement Center and a strip mall.
To see some great old photos of the theater visit this geocities site. Cinema Treasures also has a page on the theater and roadside peek offers some photos and information on its Webpage about Washington State drive-ins.
