The area know as the "Soldiers Cemetery" was established by the U.S. Army between 1864 and 1865 for some of Jackson's Civil War soldiers, both known and unknown. This area contain appoximately 25 gravesites.

Located inside Mount Evergreen Cemetery, Jackson, Michigan, it was restored by the Austin Blair Camp 7, Son of Union Veterans of the Civil War. There are two areas in which Civil war veterans are buried in Mount Evergreen, with the majority in the better known area that is located on the north edge of the cemetery and visible from the street. The Soldiers cemetery is located in the east central area of the cemetery.
