This appears to be all that remains of a Junior High School built in 1932 in the Market District of Kirkland, WA.
Loita Hawkinson with the Kirkland Heritage Society was kind enough to provide the following background:
"The junior high school at the northwest end of the site was built in 1932. The Kirkland High School was on the southern end just above the terraces. A new high school opened in 1950 on Rose Hill so this lower building became Terrace Hall and was a part of the Kirkland Junior High. A fire destroyed Terrace Hall in 1973. In 1976 a new Junior High opened and the original Kirkland Junior High stood vacant. There was a fire that damaged the building while vacant. The brick building was torn down by the City of Kirkland in 1987. The main entry arch was saved and stood on the NW end of the park until 2005 when it was moved to the corner of Market Street and Waverly Way to serve as an entry to Heritage Park. Many former students of this school, all older now and mostly retired, are miffed that the arch got moved from its original site. Might be of interest that the City of Kirkland purchased this Waverly/Market corner originally. The School district later purchased the site for schools. And finally the City purchased the site from the school district to be a park. The citizens of Kirkland have paid for this land three times. They built that arch and then moved it two times. The 1922 white building at 203 Market was originally on 1st Street and served as a church. In 1999 it was moved to its present location. It now houses a meeting hall and Kirkland Heritage Society."
