One of the first connections to the beaches from the mainland, used until the 1950s.

This stone marks the western end of the first swing bridge to the mainland. The hand operated toll bridge was built as a private venture by Robert L. and Don C. McMullen and James N. Hardage and was opened Thanksgiving day 1916. The bridge served as the gateway to the beaches until 1958.
