In the Connecticut Militia. Enlisted in 1778, as a substitute for Samuel Merry, of Hartford Twsp, Hartford Co, Conn. served two months as a private.

In 1779, 2 months as private in Capt Will's company, Col Bebey's Conn. regt.

In 1779, 6 months with the Connecticut troops under Lt Owings and was stationed at Simsbury mines in Connecticut where he was engaged in guarding prisoners.

In 1781, private in Capt Sheppard's Conn. Company and was discharged on receiving news of surrender of Cornwallis.
