João Carlos de Oliveira (João do Pulo) was a native of Pindamonhangaba and Brazilian Olympic Athlete in Triple Jump. He won bronze medals in both Montreal (1976) and Moscow (1980).
A car accident in 1980 ended his career and his right leg was amputated during his year spent in the hospital. He died in 1999 from hepatitis and a general infection. The memorial was erected in 2002 by the city of Pindamonhangaba.
