This is the former bridge used by US-17 in crossing the Ortega River. A taller bridge was built next to the old one to accommodate taller sailboats and motor yachts trying to get further up the river. The bridge was dismantled to the point that its just shy of the river's channel, coming from the north end of the bridge, and is now used as a fishing pier. Its a popular spot for fishing, particularly during the fall when the shrimp are running. You can drive to the very end of the pier to admire the view or cast a line out.
