I lived near the Lincoln Hwy in my youth. I always enjoyed riding along Rt 30 in Central and Western Pa. I remember riding over the Westinghouse Bridge east of Pittsburgh and hearing the stories of the workers falling into the cement as it was being poured and being entombed. I remember stopping by the old Ship Motel, as well as the great pie at Pete and Piggys when I was quite young. I skated at the old Ardmore Skating Rink, and spent some hot summer nights at the old drive-in nearby, both in Forest Hills. I even worked along the road, pumping Gulf gas near East Pittsburgh and Wilkinsburg at two different stations, both now long gone. I was held up while working at one. I remember watching Harley Charlie, a local cop on a motorcycle chase down many speeders going westbound. The owner of Vincent’s Pizza(pizza to die for)used to stop by on his way home, with flour all through his hair from tossing pizzas.
