These are Adena Indian Burial Mounds located in Ashland, KY's Central Park dating from 800 B.C. to 800 A.D.. There are six burial mounds in total. They are right behind Crabbe Elementary near the end of the park.

As a child, when we played in the park one of the things to do was ride our bikes over these mounds. That's before chains were put up to protect them and before anyone really made it clear how important these mounds were to history and their preservation. I know from stories when I was a child that the mounds had been robbed from "grave robbers" long ago.
