One of the smallest beaches that I've been to; only 66 feet (20 meters) wide, located on the Lake Michigan (5th largest lake in the world) shoreline.

The State of Michigan historical marker on-site states that this site once overlooked the warehouse and two piers of the village of Pier Cove. It was once hailed as "the busiest port between St. Joseph and Muskegon." With the exhaustion of the lumber supply in the late 1860s, the fire of 1871 and moving the sawmill to the railroad at Fennville, Pier Cove's prosperity diminished. Commercial activity ceased in 1917.

The land in the area was sold off over the years, but Ganges Township retained this small strip for use as a free public beach open all year 8:00-22:00. There is parking for about 10 cars. The swimming and sunning is good (afternoon sun), but there is no lifeguard nor ANY public facilites (restroom, concessions, fresh water, etc.) There is a steep stairway down to the beach here, so it is not wheelchair accessable. The best part of this small beach is as a beautiful viewing spot for the sunset over Lake Michigan to the west.
