The site is along an original stretch of the Lincoln Highway. This "highway" was the first transcontinental road for automobiles linking New York to San Francisco in the early twentieth century. This original road is marked by a logo of the "L" on red, white, and blue paint on the nearby wooden pole. In present times, US Highway 30 generally follows the route of the old Lincoln Highway across the nation, but its modern paved surfaces take more direct routes through many areas leaving the original roadbed of the famous old Lincoln Highway in the dust or mud.
