In the middle of a road sits the ruins of the Chalmette Plantations and is at the approximate location of the War of 1812 Battle of New Orleans.

Sign reads:

"The Chalmette Plantations
"Scene of the Battle of New Orleans
"Dec. 1814 - Jan. 1815
"Battle raged on lands of Ignace de Lino de Chamlette, Antoine Bienvenue, and Denis de la Ronde. British camps on lands of Jacques de Villere and Pierre Lacoste; hospital on Jumonville de Villiers. Jackson Defense Line on Edmond Macarty place."

This sign was located between the eastbound and westbound lanes of the Route 46, St. Bernard Highway. It is next to ruins of the the residence of Denis de la Ronde. There is another small sign nearby that explains the specific site.
