Guadalupe River runs through San Jose California surrounded by a park called the Guadalupe River Gardens. At the South end of the gardens, in a wild place under the intersection of highways 85 and 280, is a bypass weir and next to it, a river gauge.

The bypass weir and corresponding bypass tunnel carry overflow from the regular flood of the Guadalupe in rainy winters. It's a cavernous tunnel that runs under the West side of the riverbank as it travels through the most congested parts of downtown
