Serbian T-55 Tank--- Zadar, Croatia - Military Ground Equipment Displays on Waymarking.com

It was the deepest point of advance od Serbs and ?Yougoslav National Army? in 1991.. It wasn't as in Vukovar luckily. They tried to enter the suburb, which is on the hill overlooking city itself with company of soldiers, one tank and armoured vehicle supported with lot of artillery and planes. Few dozen of defenders were already shaken by continuous shelling and plane attacks and when they saw tank approaching some of them wanted to retreat, but one of them tookantiarmour weapon and hit the tank from 10-15 meters. Then one truckfull of soldiers was also hit. After that Serbs and army stopped and our guys reorganized and stoke back. They retreated and continueshelling in order to soften our positions, but they didn't tried toenter city again. In the next few weeks and months our positions werestronger, guys armed with more weapons and attackers couldn't mountenough forces for strong and decisive attack on the city. In those days they were very close to break aour lines. That destroyed tank is still in its position. Two more tanks were destroyed on other two entrances in the city.

Pocetkom istopada 1991. traju najžešci napadi na sam grad Zadar. Ugradu se nalaze vojarne pune rezervista, srpski živalj je vecinomnapustio grad tokom rujna. Neke od vojarni su pale u ruke HV-a, alione najvažnije nisu. Vojska i srpski pobunjenici provaljuju iz pravcaaerobaze prema gradu. Osvajaju selo Crno na ulazu u grad gdje sijekumagistralu i pravac prema sjeveru, uzimaju dio Bokanjca i sijeku putprema Pagu, drže brdo Križ odakle je moguca kontrola magistrale premaŠibeniku, 3. listopada izlazi vojska iz baze Šepurine i sijece putprema Ninu te je grad je prakticno u okruženju. Pokušavaju i upad uDracevac, zadarsko predgrade. Negdje izmedu 4. i 6. listopada tu sevode najžešce borbe. U toku njih, možda 5. listopada uništen je osomovaj tenk uz BOV i jedan kamion. obranom Dracevca sprijeceno jejacanje srpskih pozicija za djelovanje prema gradu te je sacuvanoslonac za djelovanje prema brdu Križ koje je u svibnju 1992. zauzeto.
