Take a stroll or bike ride along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, and go up the ramp to cross the old railroad bridge to Herr's Island. There, you will be treated with a beautiful view of downtown Pittsburgh (see gallery) and a unique compass rose. Pittsburgh's three rivers are overlaid on the compass, so you can see how the Allegheny and the Monongahela come together from the North and South to form the Ohio, which continues westward.
The compass rose is just steps away from one of our geocaches,
The Elves Cross That Bridge When They Come To It." Enjoy waymarking and geocaching!
