Tour 4 section:
The first church built by Scotch-Irish settling here about 1736 was near
what is now the old Rutledge Cemetery. The Golden Grove Church, the
congregation's third, near the center of town, is weatherboarded, painted white,
and has a square tower and pointed windows. - page 331
The Grove Church continues to serve the Presbyterian congregation. The church
was built circa 1855, is well maintained and is a contributing building in the
Kenansville Historic District.
