This dam is holding back water at a spring fed lake. The water flow over the edge of the dam was amazing considering north Georgia is in the midst of the worst drought in decades. This area has historical significance in that General Sherman's Union troops camped at this very spot in May of 1864 on their way to the battle of Atlanta and the eventual March to the Sea. In one of the pictures you can see what appears to be an old mill. The water wheel is gone but the building looks exactly like mills typical in this area.
