Mr. Beam born in Cleveland County, graduated at Wake Forest College.  Founder of Bethel Hill Institute 1888.  Person County Superintendent of Schools 1914-1923.

Mrs. Beam born in Bleinheim, South Carolina, graduated at Oxford College.  First woman to be elected County Superintendent of Public Instruction  in North Carolina.
