Size: Castle of Horror takes place inside what looks to be a one floor warehouse with a castle facade spanning the entire front entrance. Sturdy rooms and walls have been built on the inside and at no time does one get the feeling s/he is in a warehouse. The size measures approximately 100 yards square, not including a few outside portions. The proprietor plans to expand the attraction in 2008 or 2009 by adding a trail portion.
Scenes: Castle of Horror should be known for changing the show around
every year. That means 100% of the scenes are new. Typically, the indoor portion has 12 rooms and there are three outside scenes behind the attraction.
Costumes: The proprietor creates all costumes from scratch. These are not your normal home-sewn capes and cowls, either! The masks, fur or skin, clothing, and equipment are all engineered. For instance, a 9' wolf with 4' arms supported by cabling operated by an actor. Some really good stuff there.
I have always praised this attraction for its ingenious use of the limited space afforded to it.
In 2008, the attraction opened "Cannibal Creek", a trail type feature. I do not yet have pictures of this.
Note: Sister attraction to X-Treme Fear.
To log this waymark, do the usual: get a picture of you and the castle in the background.
