New Jersey welcomes you to their State House both on-line and through guided tours.
The original New Jersey State House was built in 1792. From all accounts, it would appear that it has been under almost continuous expansion and renovation since then. A sign along State Street to the east of the building points out renovations or additions in 1845, 1866, 1871, 1889, 1891, 1900, 1906, 1911 & 12, and 1991. It is a hodge-podge of styles as many different architects have had a hand in the changes and upgrades.
One of the best sites for information on the New Jersey Capitol is at the Friends of the State House website. Also, Wikipedia has information available. Note: the wikipedia link to the virtual tour does not work. However, a virtual tour of points of interest at the Capitol can be found on the New Jersey Legislative website.
