As of the census of 2000, there were 659 people, 248 households, and 191 families residing in the city. The building houses City Hall, PD and Fire Dept.

Though Kingston probably will never regain prominence among her northwest Georgia sister cities, people are once again finding their way to her streets. The Woman's History Club has an impressive new addition to their history museum, and Morrell's Corner Cafe serves down-home southern specialties daily. There's a fully stocked grocery in one of the renovated downtown buildings, and Kingston Military Antiques attracts collectors every weekend. Just a few miles from the Kingston stagecoach stop Godfrey Barnsley made 160 years ago, a resort destination has emerged which bears his name. And in 1997, that springtime super social, the Atlanta Steeplechase, moved to a newly developed course called Kingston Downs.

Chief Little has himself and 1 officer. The department uses three reserve officers, who all have jobs with other law enforcement agencies, according to Little. Reserve officers work with the department for no pay in exchange for training or experience with duties they would otherwise not experience. One is used only for marijuana testing, while another is currently helping the department write grants to help land additional funding.
Despite the shortage in officers, Little and Stancill look to the future and at ways to save money.
The in-car citation generating system, which the department installed recently, will not only save money, but will keep officers on the road. With the system in place, costly ticket books will no longer be needed and officers will not have to return to the station to manually enter the information from the citations into the computer system. At the push of a button, all the information gathered and entered into the in-car system will automatically download to the department's computer system. KPD is the second station in the county to implement such as system -- the Cartersville Police Department was the first.
Cars are also going to be an issue in the future, according to Little and Stancill. The department sold two cars to help the city out of financial peril.
"We've only got two cars so we've got to do something about that as we add more people," Stancill said.
"There is a lot of potential that can be done with this police department," Little said.

Type: Main Office (HQ Building)

Visit Instructions:
To log a visit, you must post a photo of you in front of the building described, with your GPS in the photo. No drive by photos.

I have had NO problems with taking photos of Police stations but please respect the fact that some services may be nervous about having their photo taken and inquire as to why... I have found that once things are explained they are more than happy to let me photograph the building, crest, chief... (they are people too!)
