Not much is known about this Sphinx. It is located atop a large pedestal with "E. Gilbert" engraved on the front. In front of the pedestal are two small gravestones, one of which has the name Edwin Gilbert (1825-1888). The other is for, presumably, his wife Mary Ellen Gilbert. The sphinx and burial plots can be found in section 8 of Forest Lawn Cemetery.
