The City of Vancouver USA is named after Royal Navy Captain George Vancouver (1758-1798) of Great Britain. He explored the coast of Washington State and the Burrard Inlet, a natural harbor, in 1792. The statue is located near Esther Short Park in the midst of the City of Vancouver. The statue was dedicated July 16, 2005. Sculpted by Jim Demetro, Battle Ground, Washington.
