Here's a little history about the place...
Shortly after the repeal of state and federal laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages, Henry J. Reverman took his college trust fund and invested it to create a new tavern in the shell of a former garage near the corner of 8th Avenue NE and NE 45th Street. Reverman and his partner, Monty Fairchild, dubbed it the "Blue Moon" after purchasing a large neon sign from the nearby Blue Moon Cafe. They opened for business in mid-April 1934.
Today the place is quite a dive, but is still a Seattle landmark.
Musician: Ray Kennedy & Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show
Name of Song: What A Way To Go
Relevant Verse: First verse of the song...
I met him in Seattle, bellied up to a bottle
Telling lies in the Blue Moon Bar
His face was hard and traveled and as the lines unraveled,
I saw a man who could laugh about his scars
