This Carnegie library has undergone a metamorphosis to become the Bemidji Community Arts Center. Located along Main Street along the waterfront of Lake Bemidji, the former library building is located within what is still called Library Park. In 2009, the Bemidji Public Library celebrated its 100th birthday, although it was first housed in a temporary building for two years until 1909 when the Carnegie building was finished. The current Bemidji Public Library later outgrew this original building, and its most recent incarnation is the new public library which is housed in a lovely new book-shaped building on 5th street directly 3 blocks to the west of the Carnegie building. The Community Art Center is a thriving arts organization housed in the old library building, offering visitors the opportunity to view frequently changing art exhibits.
