This reference mark is located about 9 miles north of Valley Falls, Oregon along U.S. Hwy 395. The cap is set in a large talus boulder from Abert Rim about 55 feet east of highway centerline and 55 feet south-southeast of the Oregon Geology Marker at this location. The reference mark was set by the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1948 and was stamped MIOCENE NO 2.
