The Equestrian Statue memorial to Sir John Greer Dill is located under a clump of shade trees on the corner of Grant and Roosevelt Drive on the cemetary grounds.
Born in Ireland, Sir John served in the British forces through several conflicts including World War I and World War II. During these times, he helped forge a close relationship between the United Kingdom and United States. In 1941, he was relocated to the United States as the Chief of the British Joint Staff Mission and then later as the Senior British Representative on the Combined Chiefs of Staff. He passed away in 1944 and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery under the statue.
