Sixes Mill: Site of an early
Cherokee settlement and later a gold mine in the early 1830’s. This was also a military removal encampment for the Georgia Militia during the "
Trail of Tears" in 1838. The current mill in this area, called by many names, was rebuilt in 1878 and 1880. West of I-575 on Sixes Rd. [Source

Note: The mill is located in a fenced area with
"No Trespassing" signs. I found a place to park and walked along the road staying on the public right of way to take these photos. Sixes road is rather
busy so I would not recommend this approach for young children.
