Smokey watches over the forest along the Great Divide in Wisconsin. The Great Divide seperates the two principal drainage areas of Wisconsin. Rain falling to the north drains into Lake Superior, and then travels through the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean 2000 miles away. Rain falling to the south flow down the Chippewa River into the Mississippi River and downstream to the Gulf of Mexico 1600 miles away.
