Within the Library of Congress' American Memory On-line Collection, I came across this photo of the Joliet Illinois State Penitentiary. The photo came from the collection Detroit Publishing Company and was taken between 1880 and 1901. Although the Catalog for the photograph says it was taken in 1901, it cannot be confirmed. But even in 2007, there has not been a lot of changes to the building.
