The Hindhead Golf Club was founded in 1904 by a small group of golfing enthusiasts which included Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who became the Club's first President. J.H Taylor, the course architect, James Braid, Harry Vardon and Ted Ray, all past Open Champions, have walked these fairways. Dai Rees, Club Professional in 1938, attributed his accurate driving to it's narrow fairways.
