Funded by a grant of $15,000 in 1914, the original building was officially opened in 1917. The structure was designed by Alfred Chapman whose firm was responsible for many notable designs of the early 20th century. After several additions over the years, space needs force the library to move to new facilities in 1996 and the building serves now as the Maclaren Arts Center.
