On January 5th 2002, a 15 year old student pilot deliberately crashed a stolen single engine Cessna into the 28th floor, slightly damaging the building.
The student was killed.

Bank of America Plaza has an imported marble façade and landscaped piazza. A commissioned sculpture stands on the piazza, and rotating art collections are displayed in the mahogany-paneled lobby.
The building surpassed One Tampa City Center in 1986 as the tallest building in Tampa, and was the city's tallest until completion of AmSouth Building in 1992.
