When I found this category I went wild...I actually had a item to contribute!! And what an item....the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. It stands 333 feet tall on Shooters Hill in Alexandria, Virginia, and overlooks the Potomac River (with Washington, DC. visible from observation deck, so bring your binoculars). It was constructed entirely with voluntary contributions from members of the Masonic Fraternity and dedicated to the memory of George Washington on May 12, l932. This site is open free to the public daily (except New Years Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas) from 9:00 to 4:00, with guided tours available. Two regular Lodges, a Lodge of Research and seven other Masonic organizations meet regularly in the Memorial. When my parents (both members of Masonic organizations for decades) were visiting from Minnesota, I took them to the Memorial and it was the highlight of their visit.
