Long Description:The coordinates provided are for the front entrance of the Ohio
Historical Center. The bell is located on the ground floor in the
northwestern portion of the building.
This bell is from the
USS
Ohio, a Maine-class pre-Dreadnought battleship. Construction
was started in 1899, and it was launched on May 18, 1901. The ship
sailed the world until it was decommissioned on May 31, 1922. The
bell and silver service were placed on loan with the Ohio
Historical Society for public viewing in 1924.
