Long Description:
Twin Bridge Park is located in the Town Center section of
Merrimack. This 27 acre park was deed to the town by a committe of
townspeople in 1928. Bounded on the north and east by Baboosic
Brook, the park derives its name from the two bridges that have, in
one form or another, been used to cross the brook since colonial
times. The massive stones used for the original bridge abutments
still anchor today's bridges.
While upland areas of the park are largely forested in various Oaks
and White Pines, walking the paths along the brook and adjacent low
lands takes the hiker through woods dominated by American Hemlock
trees (Tsuga cnadensis). Witchhazel trees (Corylopsis spp.) are the
predominant under story growth.
Activities featured at Twin Bridge Park include scenic walking
paths, the Kids Kove children's play area, Little League baseball
at Bise Field, and half-court basketball. This park is also the
location of the Merrimack Youth Association (MYA) headquarters
building.
