Located along the historic Ashville-Montevallo Stagecoach Route, now Highway 119, Rowan Springs has long been a favorite place for travelers and citizens of the Leeds area to picnic and gather drinking water in an area where quality water was often hard to find.
When owners Jim and Ella Rowan sold the property to Leeds Water Works Board, a condition of the sale was that water would always be available without charge. A water hydrant has been installed and is still in use today.
