From an article on the Wausau Daily Herald web site:
"The Ely Wright House was built 1881 in the Italianate style, according to Marathon County Historical Society National Register List.
Ely Wright was born in Athens, Pa., in 1838. He moved to Marinette in 1864 where he worked for the Menominee River Lumber Company, then ran a store for five years, according to “History of Northern Wisconsin” published in 1881.
In the 1870s Wright bought the Memominee Iron Works and moved it to Wausau, bringing along his superintendent, D.J. Murray.
Wright married Ella L. Fairchild in 1865 in Marinette. The couple had six children."
