For eleven years, this building served as a ticket counter and waiting area for commuters traveling to their Hyde Park homes. During one year, 1893, the building provided transportation for thousands of visitors to the World’s Columbian Exposition in Jackson Park. After 1898, the building was converted to a lunch room and remained a restaurant until the Hyde Park Historical Society moved in.
From 2pm to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays, you can come inside and view changing, temporary exhibits on the history of the Hyde Park neighborhood.
