Salem Cemetery contains the remains of many early settlers of Tonawanda, especially those of German descent. Salem Church, for whom the cemetery belongs, was originally United Methodist but is now United Church of Christ. The grounds are well kept and burials are still made there. Within the past few years, an new entrance and fence were erected, along with a stamped concrete driveway. There is estimated to be around 300 burials here.
