In the back of the Tonawanda City Cemetery is a zinc headstone for the Rose family. All four sides are unique, two of which have names on them. They read as follows:
Northwest side:
Lorenzo P. Rose,
Died August 1, 1901,
Aged 81 years, 10 months, 6 days.
--
Mary J. Newman, his wife,
Died February 27, 1891,
Aged 71 years, 1 month, 21 days.
At the base of the headstone is, again, L.P. Rose with the date of 1889 below that.
Southwest side:
A cross is the only thing on this panel. At the base is H.T. Rose.
Southeast side:
Henry A. Rose,
Died May 4, 1903,
Aged 55 years, 8 months, 3 days.
Below that is presumably a N.Y. Cavalry insignia. At the base of the headstone on that side is H.A. Rose, and below that is 10th N.Y. Cavalry.
Northeast side:
A picture of a mother and her three children is above "To Earth these children lost. To heaven are cherubs born." At the base on that side is I.M. Rose.
