The only general aviation airport serving Orange County, Fullerton Municipal Airport (KFUL) had humble beginnings in 1913 as a landing strip for crop dusters and barnstormers. Since its formal dedication as an airport on April 21, 1928, Fullerton Municipal Airport has had an interesting history. It has been used by the United States Military as a training field and was a filming location for the Howard Hughes movie, "Hell's Angels." It was also the departure point of the record setting endurance flight of Dick Riedel and Bill Barris aboard the Sunkist Lady and was the destination for Nancy Brissey, whose solo flight from Vero Beach, Florida, set a student pilot duration record.

It currently serves as the home base for the Orange County Fire Authority and California Highway Patrol’s air operation fleets. However, the most exciting tenant is Air Combat, USA, who can turn anyone into a fighter pilot for a day!

The airport’s facilities include an FAA control tower, a 3,120 foot runway, Tartuffles Restaurant, flight schools, and fixed base operators (FBOs). After leading the nation in stolen aircraft in 1999, access control management technology, a video surveillance system and a Fullerton Police Department substation were added to the airport.

Enjoy your visit to this charming little airport and remember, “Fly Friendly!”
