The most recent addition to Pensacola’s Veterans Memorial Park is the Korean War memorial dedicated Memorial Day weekend of 2007. The monument honors those who served in the Korean War, often referred to as “The Forgotten War”—a permanent reminder of the price of freedom. The memorial features three bronze figures surrounding a black granite centerpiece inscribed with a map of Korea. The figures include a medic and child, an honor to the service men and women who supported the children of the war-torn nation through humanitarian aid. The memorial can be visited in the downtown waterfront park, a place for reflection and quiet tribute.
