The Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park opened on June 30, 1979. It is home to the only guided missle cruiser open to the public, the USS Little Rock, in addition to the destroyer USS The Sullivans and submarine USS Croaker. All three ships are open to the public with paid admission, and visitors can take as much time as they want exploring the tight quarters of each ship.
Many memorials and monuments are in the park nearby, commemorating nearly every war and all branches of the military.
At the time of this waymark writing, extensive construction was going on nearby on the restoration of the historic terminous of the Erie Canal. Several more planes, ships and other exhibits will be available for viewing once this construction is complete.
