A time capsule placed by the Illinois Department of Transportation celebrating the completion of the complete rebuilding project of I-74 through the Peoria, IL area. The purpose of the rebuild was to upgrade the Interstate to current standards to lessen traffic congestion and make safer and easier on and off ramps. The project lasted four years, from 2002 through 2006. This time capsule was placed in November 2006 and will be opened in November 2056. It is located under west end of the I-74 bridge across the Illinois River along the river front in Peoria, IL.
