The new firehouse that houses Engine 36 and Ladder 13 opened in 2006. It replaced a dated firehouse that was built in 1913 further south down Elmwood Avenue. Ladder 13 was also relocated from a now closed station nearby. The third bay, which appears empty in the photos, is for the 7th battalion chief.
For the most part, this house serves the northern sections of Buffalo which contains a lot of commercial and industrial buildings.
