The following excerpt is from "Wyoming: A Guide to its History, Highways, and People":
The road crosses BEAR RIVER, 7.9 m., then skirts a rim of red hills along the edge of the valley, a continuous meadow bordered by fields of alfalfa and grain.
I had to laugh at this section of the book because it goes on to desribe the land across the Wyoming border in Utah that is adjacent to the river valley as "the drab wasteland that borders Bear River Valley". The dry barren land around the river indeed feels like a wasteland when contrasted with the green banks of the river.
These coordinates are for Bear River State park, a great spot for picnics and a favorite spot for local joggers and walkers to exercise. In the winter the trails along the river are groomed for cross-country skiing. There is also a herd of bison and elk that are protected within the park and graze in the valley.
